This report is based on a Web survey of the optical components and modules market conducted by Communications Industry Researchers, Inc. (CIR) It was conducted as part of CIR's ongoing mission to quantify and analyze the markets for optical components and modules. The participants for the survey were people with direct involvement in the optical value chain and we supplemented the data in the report with data from other CIR reports that have been published over the past six month period. CIR publishes regular reports on overall market trends in these sectors and frequent reports on specific component/module products and emerging technologies. The results reported in this survey set into long-term context the recent slight decline in sales of some components firms, including the market leader JDSU.
